#6: Almost Like Rebar No.3

This work has already differed from the traditional photographic form in the handling of the border. The details and memories of the images inside belong to the early works. The way of edges cutting is not intentional. I feel that I cannot create the edges myself, as this would affect the language and tension of the individual work. I completed this work based on the principle of respecting every corner, even every element. Then the edges formed naturally. The only thing I needed to do is to respect them.

These early works were private. I did not create my own story on the works intestinally, but at that time I did not have the ability and life experience to avoid being personal. Looking back now, this kind of expression is a manifestation of my early lack of ability. At that time, I would pay more attention to the transmission of the image and the production of montage. For example, in the original video of this couple, they were spitting at each other's faces, and the quarrel was extremely intense, reaching the limit. But when you look t each frame separately, you will find that they are very tacit, like dancing, and they are in love. Including the photo in the bottom right, the woman just happened to blink her eyes. She was not closing her eyes to think about something, but just a blinking. The content conveyed by the frame images and the video images is completely different, which reminds me is the video we see in life a true reflection of reality? Do they exist in every frame, or only in a few seconds?

I added two photos of French croissants on the side, because France is romantic and symbolizes love. Two croissants together convey the posture of 'spooning each other,' a couple lying in an embrace.

The image in the bottom right corner is 'small stones' I collected on the beach. They are not stones, but bricks. Some abandoned buildings were thrown into the sea in the past, and after being washed by the sea for hundreds of years, they were rounded, but the patterns of the old porcelain were still left on them. This makes me think, can waste be thrown into the sea? Everything is about feasibility and rightness, and everything are on the border. Glass bottles are made of sand, which should come from the sea, but they cannot be thrown into the sea. The problem in between is human processing, which allows us to reflect on what position humans should have in nature.
