B.1987, Iceland

Kári Björn is an Icelandic photographer, currently based in the United States. Björn is inspired by his naive childhood conception of “America the great!” In parallel, he is intrigued by its most blatant flaws and societal topics.

Pooches follows a circuit of animal fashion shows and tournaments in and around New York City, with the grand finale, The New York Pet Fashion Show, held annually at Hotel Pennsylvania’s penthouse ballroom. The show itself brings together the chaos and glamour of New York’s fashion Week mixed with the grace and elegance of the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, which occur simultaneously in February.
