#5: Cold-Blooded Animals
The title of this work has changed greatly from the previous series. In terms of visual density, strong lines are added, with a switch and visual contrast, including the color of the frame, material, and different animal elements.
This work was from a series of my solo exhibitions in 2022, but I did not participate in the opening and exhibition installation. My own transformation is reflected in the theme, because I have lost my previous self-confidence, and it is only after self-examination that I started making artworks again.
I began trying different materials and applying simple fade-in and fade-out film editing techniques in my photographic works, making them unclear to see. Before this, the effect I wanted to achieve was for everyone to be able to see each frame. But in this series, I feel that the mere existence of the pictures is enough, so I pay more attention to the combination effect of the pictures, I hope it is something new, not just a collage. Therefore, I abandoned the collage and focused solely on the pictures, and the only thing I need to do is to respect them. I even drew out the boundary lines of the pictures. If you look closely, you will see a net, which are extensions of the boundary lines of each photo, and the boundary line color is the main color of the photo.
On smart phones, pictures can be shrunk into a dense network, and with current photography techniques, you can see the second before and after the photo. Vision Pro even has spatial photography that can record the atmosphere. The works of 2022 expressed time through visual shapes, although we all live in the present with clear images, but before and after the images are recorded, there is actually a continuous process. In this work, the rich boundary lines of the photos are applied with the main color of the photos as a transition. It is like describing how memory or the individual is marked in space-time and mirroring, then become blurry.
Each photograph in the work plays an important role, they exist in an intangible way, no matter how far you are from it, and regardless of the virtual and real relationship, you are affected by it.
The work expresses the concept of the individual, showing the relationship between the individual in a group. I believe in human nature, and I hope that the creative content I do can show no matter what the world becomes, the beauty of human nature can be preserved.
