#14: Totem

This video "Totem", this installation, I also did this for the "Umbra" series. And it was the very first time that I started working with moving image and large installations. These are landscapes. And also, often you would see these totems, these figures in the landscape. And actually, in the very first exhibition that I did, the projectors were very low, so if people would walk into the room, the installation was even larger, actually. Then people would cast their shadows on the wall. So they would become part of the installation themselves. And also they would become “totems” just like the figures that you see in the installation.
